– 3M Projected Capacitive Technology powers Bally’s new iDeck™ slot-machine interface, offering one of the industry’s first multi-touch screens designed to revolutionize the customer gaming experience –
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--3M Touch Systems Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3M, today announced that its leading-edge multi-touch solution – 3M Projective Capacitive Technology (3M PCT) – is featured in Bally Technologies’ (NYSE: BYI) new iDeck™ solution for the gaming technology company’s new ALPHA 2™ Pro Series™ gaming cabinets. Bally Technologies’ iDeck is the first industry implementation of 3M’s multi-touch player interface, which provides gaming manufacturers with a development platform to create more immersive and engaging player experiences by using multiple touch points on the gaming machine button deck and synchronizing with game play.
“3M Touch Systems is a valued partner for Bally Technologies, helping us implement the latest touchscreen solutions for our innovative slot cabinets,” said Dan Savage, vice president of marketing, Bally Technologies. “We chose 3M PCT multi-touch technology for our new iDeck solution because of its easy configurability and customer-centric benefits – from rapid response to intuitive, multi-finger gestures, to its ability to withstand the harshest of environments.”
3M PCT’s outstanding surface durability and multi-touch capabilities are some of the key factors in Bally Technologies’ decision to replace its traditional mechanical button deck with this new next-generation user interface. 3M’s multi-touch technology solution provides more than 10-plus finger simultaneous touch response with less than a six millisecond response time, enabling player-selectable configuration, game-synchronized touch features, and multi-touch, skill-based gaming. 3M PCT’s anti-stiction touch surface allows fingers to move smoothly across the screen, and is built to withstand most of the rugged demands of everyday casino environments.
“Bally Technologies’ innovative leadership in the gaming industry is well documented, and the company’s decision to implement 3M PCT technology to power their revolutionary iDeck player interface is proof positive of this fact,” said Chris Tsourides, business manager, 3M Touch Systems. “The multi-touch capabilities of 3M PCT enables Bally’s vision of a fully downloadable, touch-enabled button deck interface to replace their traditional button deck format for a more compelling and immersive player experience.”
