3M and Singing Surgeons partner to salute health care workers and first responders
Jul 15, 2020

Every day, health care workers and first responders around the world are committed to helping save the lives of their patients. At 3M, we applaud their bravery and compassion as we continue to do our part and find new ways to support frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.

We are expressing our gratitude through a meaningful message conveyed in a new video called “Serenade.” This video thanks health care workers and first responders for their commitment, courage and compassionate spirit in caring for others during the fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The human voice can carry as much or more emotion as an image, so finding the right music to convey this story was essential to our tribute video. Knowing this, it was no surprise that we connected instantly with the work of two physicians who have gained prominence with their viral videos sharing musical messages of hope – Doctor Elvis Francois and Doctor William Robinson, formerly of the Mayo Clinic. Francois and Robinson traveled to Nashville to record a four-track album called “Music is Medicine.” Their efforts and talents are inspired by their desire to lift people’s spirits during crisis. The inspiring messages delivered through the doctors’ performance serve as a cornerstone for our video salute.

3M’s partnership with the doctors is a continuation of the company’s support of nonprofits dedicated to meeting the needs of communities around the world. 3M also committed to become the lead sponsor for Direct Relief’s newly formed COVID-19 Fund for Community Health, making a $10 million investment to provide community health centers with direct financial aid to support health care workers. Through our collaboration with the doctors, 3M will make a contribution to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) COVID-19 Response Fund.

Similar to Direct Relief, the CDP COVID-19 Response Fund supports preparedness, containment, response and recovery activities for those most affected.

“Health care workers and first responders are on the front line of this global crisis. 3M is grateful for their courage, compassion and commitment as they fight to save lives every day,” said Denise Rutherford, senior vice president, 3M Corporate Affairs. “We are proud to partner with Doctors Francois and Robinson to help spread a message of hope, strength and unity during this challenging time.”

“Serenade” can be seen and heard now on 3M’s YouTube and LinkedIn pages.
