Greater Twin Cities United Way Names 3M's Inge Thulin as 2015 Campaign Leader

With the 2014 Greater Twin Cities United Way annual fund moving full-steam ahead, the state’s largest non-governmental funder is already teeing-up for 2015. Today, 3M and Greater Twin Cities United Way announce that next year’s local campaign will be led by Inge Thulin, 3M chairman, president and chief executive officer.

“3M shares with United Way the same commitment to changing lives and saving lives,” said Thulin. “Giving back is ingrained in our global work. Through volunteerism and contributions, our people make a difference every year, helping thousands of people around the world.”

3M was the 2013 recipient of United Way Worldwide’s highest national honor for corporations, the Spirit of America® award. It was the second time that 3M was recognized by United Way Worldwide for its philanthropy, volunteer engagement and community impact.

As the 2015 campaign chair, Thulin will lead a diverse group of more than 60 volunteers who comprise United Way’s Campaign Cabinet. The Cabinet’s goal is to generate strategies and revenue to serve nearly 1 million people.

2014 United Way campaign chair, Dave Kvamme, CEO for Wells Fargo Minnesota, notes that the annual fund is entering its peak months. “This year’s success – which will be the result of the campaign cabinet’s commitment and dedication – will pave the way for Inge’s innovative, community-wide leadership in 2015,” said Kvamme. “I look forward to passing the ‘fundraising baton’ across the Mississippi River as we continue to help raise the needed funds to address community needs.”

“As one of the largest United Ways in the country, we are honored to have leaders such as Dave Kvamme and Inge Thulin,” said Sarah Caruso, president and chief executive officer of Greater Twin Cities United Way. “We work collectively to solve complex community problems and support the most vulnerable in the Twin Cities region. We are privileged to encourage the philanthropic spirit of our 1,000 companies, 125,000 donors and more than 50 thousand Caring Connection volunteers. That outpouring reflects the generosity that will generate $90 million in revenue.”
