3M Food Safety announced today that its 3M^TM Molecular Detection System has won a bronze Stevie^® award in the 2013 International Business Awards. 3M is recognized in the category of Best New Product or Service of the Year – Health & Pharmaceuticals.

The 3M Molecular Detection System was chosen for this award in recognition for being a simple, accurate and cost-effective pathogen detection solution that benefits food processors, universities, governments, and contract testing laboratories.  After just 19 months on the market, it is now used in over 35 countries and has garnered multiple certifications from the most rigorous and well-known third-party validation organizations.

The 2013 International Business Awards received entries from more than 50 nations and territories. Nicknamed the “Stevies” for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards will be presented to winners at a gala awards banquet at the W Hotel in Barcelona, Spain on October 14.

Developed with the benefit of insights from customers based in multiple countries and responsible for multiple types of food, the 3M Molecular Detection System integrates two innovative technologies – isothermal DNA amplification and bioluminescence detection. Individually compatible assay test kits are available for Salmonella, E. coliO157 (including H7), Listeria and Listeria monocytogenes.
