Low-emission products help customers meet high environmental standards

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--3M Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division announces the launch of new Low VOC Aerosols and 3M™ Hi-Strength 94 ET Spray Adhesives with up to 50% reduction of VOCs, giving customers more “future friendly” adhesive options that help them meet air quality and environmental goals. As more attention is paid to VOCs—volatile organic compounds—and their role in air quality, 3M is offering these next generation materials for customers interested in pursuing LEED® credits and other environmental certifications.

The new Low VOC Aerosol Adhesives from 3M are low-emission versions of the company’s trusted aerosol adhesives. These products include 3M™ Super 77™ Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive – Low VOC <25%, 3M™ Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive – Low VOC <25%, and 3M™ Foam Fast 74 Spray Adhesive – Low VOC <25%. Additionally, 3M™ Adhesive Remover – Low VOC <20% and 3M™ Silicone Spray – Low VOC 60% complement the line. Performance benefits have been achieved with the low VOC versions of 3M Super 77 Multi-Purpose Spray Adhesive, which offers a longer tack and finer spray pattern than the current offering. In addition, 3M Hi-Strength 90 Spray Adhesive – Low VOC <25% and 3M Foam Fast 74 Spray Adhesive – Low VOC <25% deliver higher solids, better peel strength and a longer bonding range. All of the 3M Low VOC Aerosol Adhesives meet California Air Resources Board (CARB), Ozone Transport Commission (OTC) and Lake Michigan Air District Consortium (LADCO) VOC requirements.

Users of the existing 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Hi-Strength Postforming 94 CA Spray Adhesive will find added benefits in the new 3M Hi-Strength 94 ET Spray Adhesive. This product offers higher tack for easier bonding, an increased bonding range, and more versatility in substrate bonding to soft foams, lighter weight materials and more porous surfaces. 3M Hi-Strength 94 ET Spray Adhesive is available in aerosol, cylinder, and bulk versions, while 3M Scotch-Weld Hi-Strength Postforming 94 CA Spray Adhesive remains available in both cylinders and bulk. Both 3M Scotch-Weld Hi-Strength Postforming 94 CA Spray Adhesive and 3M Hi-Strength 94 ET Spray Adhesive are low VOC and meet the most stringent air quality regulations in the U.S.

All of the 3M Low VOC Spray Adhesive products are GREENGUARD Children & Schools Certified^(SM), a product certification recognizing low-emitting building materials and other products used in environments where children and other sensitive populations spend extended periods of time.
