3M Touch Systems Introduces High Air Flow Electrostatic Filters to Help Protect Slot Machines from Smoke, Dust, Dirt and Debris

– 3M High Air Flow Electrostatic (HAF-E) Filters are designed to effectively remove contaminants from the air intakes and ensure high-flow filtration rates to protect electronic components inside devices –

3M Touch Systems Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of 3M, today announced the availability of 3M High Air Flow Electrostatic (HAF-E) Filters, designed to remove contaminants such as smoke, dust, dirt, debris and carpet fibers from the air intakes on devices, such as slot machines, vending machines, arcade games, ATM’s, kiosks and computers.

“The development of 3M HAF-E Filters is the result of a deep understanding of the environment our gaming customers’ electronic devices operate in,” said Chris Tsourides, business manager, 3M Touch Systems. “This novel filter, along with DI-NOC Architectural Films and LED Flexible Lightmat, highlight 3M’s commitment as a total solutions provider to the gaming industry well beyond our reputation with capacitive touchscreens.”

3M HAF-E Filters use novel microstructured features to increase filter surface area, allowing high air flow rates while minimizing pressure drops across the filter. Additionally, filter effectiveness is maximized by utilizing 3M’s proprietary electrostatic manufacturing process. This produces an electrostatic attraction from the filter surface to airborne particles to attract and remove fine particulates, which can potentially damage sensitive electronics.

These unique air filters work to protect the air intake ducts from most contaminants, so the need to perform daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning of the slot machine interior may be significantly reduced. Filter change-out can be performed in less than 30 seconds with no special tools and typically does not require taking the equipment out-of-service resulting in maximum uptime of the slot machine.
