-- Rugged Design from 3M Delivers Robust Performance in the Outside Plant --
3M Communication Markets Division recently released the Quick Connect System 2810, designed to give local loop providers a simple-to-use, tool-less copper block, ideal for inside and outside plant applications. The QCS 2810 is the latest insulation displacement connector termination system from 3M, the company that invented the IDC more than 50 years ago.
The QCS 2810 from 3M provides high-integrity connections in the embedded plant, enabling local loop providers to deploy services including VDSL2 into copper twisted pair cable. This means service providers can deliver high-speed internet services such as data access, video-on-demand and video conferencing over existing copper plant.
Modular by design, the QCS 2810 is available in models and frames for a variety of applications inside and outside plant, including two field cable termination options and a pre-terminated option. Termination blocks are available for pre-terminated applications in a 50-pair increment or field-terminated applications in a 10-pair strip. In field-terminated applications, the block fits on standard 3M frames and is capable of terminating cable-side either with thumb actuation or with a convenient punch-down tool for increased productivity.
The QCS provides visual validation of the IDC connection, helping to assure network integrity during xDSL rollout and NGN migration. In addition, high-reliability gel encapsulation protects against moisture and corrosion and is designed to remain in place after multiple wire insertions. Cat. 5e performance means the QCS 2810 can deliver reliable high-speed data transmission exceeding VDSL2 frequencies. The Quick Connect System 2810 is also RoHS compliant.
Designed specifically for rugged use and robust performance in the outside plant, the QCS 2810 is ideal for use in building entrance terminals (BET/PET), network interface devices (NIDs), cable terminals and drops (buried, pedestal, strand or DP mount), cross-connect cabinets and remote terminals.
