3M Scotchlok Trim-Out Connector Installs Quickly Without Interrupting Service

The 3M Scotchlok trim-out connector 211 makes it possible to cut out defective telecommunications connectors without interrupting service and without having to piece out or bridge. With the new clear-connector jacket, the craftsman can see that the wires are fully inserted into the side channels. The contrasting yellow of the cap creates a focal point, making it easier to install the connector in dimly lit environments.

The connector installs quickly with little training and no new tools. The 3M-developed U-contact makes the connection when the device is crimped so that service continues uninterrupted. Because there is no break in service, there is no need to test to identify alarm circuits, thus saving a great deal of time. When crimped, the built-in, cut-off blades trim out the old connection and the new connection is sealed with a self-contained, moisture-resistant encapsulant. The side-loading design, pre-crimp feature and positioning ability make it especially useful where conductor length is limited. A test port allows for testing connections without degrading insulation.

Scotchlok trim-out connectors can be used with any plastic, paper or pulp-insulated copper conductor between 19 and 26 AWG (0.9-0.4 mm) with a maximum insulation O.D. of 0.082 inch (2.08mm). Conductors do not have to be the same gauge.
