3M Celebrates 50th Anniversary of The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management

Announces support for new undergraduate program for inclusion

3M celebrated the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management at a recent gala in St. Louis, Mo., where the company announced it will co-sponsor a new multidisciplinary undergraduate program committed to inclusion.

The Consortium is an alliance of leading American business schools and top corporate partners committed to increasing the representation of African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans in management careers.

“As a founding partner, we know that by working together we can enhance diversity in business and leadership by helping to reduce the underrepresentation of African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans in management,” said Rhonda Graves, 3M Chief Diversity Officer. “These efforts with the Consortium are one important way in which we are working to achieve our aspirational 2025 sustainability goal to double the pipeline of diverse talent in management to build a diverse workforce.”

Since its inception, 3M and the Consortium have awarded merit-based, full-tuition fellowships to top MBA candidates who have a proven record for promoting inclusion in school, in their jobs or in their personal lives. Over the years, the Consortium has helped more than 8,500 of the country’s best MBA students achieve their goals. Since 1966, 3M has hired graduates through the Consortium and provided financial support as part of an effort to increase diversity in the company.

Diversity and inclusion are at the core of innovation at 3M. Diversity fuels 3M’s ability to be successful as a global company operating in many different industries, markets, countries, geographies, cultures and communities.
