3M Condensation Management Film honored as top innovation
Food processing facilities need to be fastidious about the cleanliness of their operations, and 3M innovation helps contribute toward businesses’ sanitary practices. 3M™ Condensation Management Film was voted as a prestigious Gold winner of the 2016 Edison Award within the Applied Technology category for Food Manufacturing Process. 3M Condensation Management Film is adhered to surfaces in cooled food processing facilities to help reduce the labor associated with removing condensation droplets formed during the cleaning and sanitation process of operations.
Steve Swanson, Kurt Halverson, 3M Corporate Research and Development, and Jim Medek and Dave Peterson, 3M Corporate Ventures, accepted the award on behalf of the company, at an award ceremony held in New York City on April 21.
The surface of 3M Condensation Management Film contains microscopic capillary channels that increase the rate of evaporation by spreading the droplets, creating a self-drying surface that reduces the need to manually mop. It provides a labor-saving solution for food processing facilities due to the reduced need to mop or squeegee condensation formed during sanitation.
“Overall, 3M Condensation Management Film is an answer to help business owners increase productivity, cost savings and improve plant hygiene,” said Medek, business development manager. “The 3M team is thrilled to be honored with an Edison Award for this scientific innovation that can help positively impact customers’ operations.”
