Government employees are now able to make tax exempt purchases on the 3M direct online store, Shop3M.com, with a GSA SmartPay card.

To enroll, GSA card holders should register for an account on Shop3M.com and identify they are part of the SmartPay program.  Any purchase made with a GSA VISA or MasterCard would then be qualified as tax exempt. 

Even with this new feature on Shop3M, the current 3M government contract purchase process has not changed.  However, Shop3M now provides a way for government employees to make purchases in order to try new products or purchase items not on contract with the GSA SmartPay card. 

Since 2006, Shop3M.com has allowed consumers to purchase a wide variety 3M products directly from the manufacturer. Currently, GSA SmartPay cards are the only way to make a tax exempt purchase on the site.
