3M Cloud Library Expands to Canada, Unveils New Automation Feature

Canadian libraries gain access to thousands of eBook titles

3M Library Systems announces the Canadian launch of the 3M Cloud Library eBook Lending System. Highly anticipated, this expansion makes Canada the first country outside of the U.S. to gain access to the service. 3M Library Systems will discuss the upcoming expansion at the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting, January 24-28 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Canada’s 3M Cloud Library will offer the same easy-to-use customer interface and back-end tools, and will include content from major publishers including Penguin, Random House, Hachette, Macmillan, and HarperCollins. In addition, the catalog includes hundreds of other publishers, offering readers access to thousands of titles. 3M is also currently working with House of Anansi Press, Dundern Press, ECW Press and others to bring readers content from uniquely Canadian voices.

Also at ALA, 3M will showcase the Cloud Library’s new automated buying tool, which allows librarians to purchase hold lists automatically and easily manage all expiry content. This new, fully customizable tool will help reduce the time required from library staff to manage their collections.

“We know that libraries are looking for every possible way to help staff members use their time most efficiently, so we’re constantly implementing Cloud Library tools to automate work and give more time back to librarians,” said Tom Mercer, 3M Cloud Library Marketing Manager. “The automated buying tool is a powerful and customizable way for each library to manage its eBook collection and free up time for other tasks.”

3M Library Systems will be located at booth #1025 at the ALA Midwinter Meeting, and will also be exhibiting at the Ontario Library Association (OLA) Super Conference Expo, January 30-31 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in booth #529. Along with the Cloud Library, there will be a full range of library productivity and security products represented at both shows, including the new 3M SelfCheck QuickConnect Interface – a new way to reach library customers at the self-checkout.
