3M Brings Solutions Directly to Industry at Transportation Manufacturers Summit

Event showcased integrated solutions from 12 divisions of company

ST. PAUL, Minn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Representatives of more than 65 companies were in attendance at the recent 3M Transportation Manufacturers Summit held in Elkhart, Indiana. Attendees of the summit spent the day learning about 3M’s broad range of solutions for the transportation industry, with technologies from 12 different 3M divisions brought together under one roof.

In technical seminars, product demonstrations and at the 3M Innovation Fair, industry decision-makers were able to learn about the company’s offerings in categories including weight reduction, aesthetics, productivity, passenger comfort, safety, sustainability, water intrusion and more. Visitors enjoyed exclusive access and live demonstrations of new 3M products and technologies, which have been built on the company’s 45 core technology platforms.

“We organized this summit to come directly to customers with integrated solutions for their problems,” said Mark Gehlsen, U.S. Technology Solutions Manager. “3M is much more than an adhesives company or an abrasives company, and this event was designed to demonstrate our full range of capabilities.”

Highlights of the day included keynote speeches from Joe Thompson, President of Roush CleanTech, and John Waters, President of Waters & Associates. Additionally, four Tech Talks were presented, highlighting solutions for engineers, designers and manufacturers of specialty vehicles on topics including “Replacing Mechanical Fasteners in Transportation Applications,” “Advances in Composite Materials,” “Advancements in Lighting Technologies,” and “Paint Shop Productivity Improvements.”

In addition to the more than 60 transportation companies represented by attendees, visitors to the summit included representatives of the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers, National Trailer Equipment Association and the National RV Dealers Association.

“We were extremely pleased with the level of engagement of the attendees and their enthusiasm to apply these solutions in their products,” said Steve Stark, Transportation Market Specialist.

Since the event, 3M has been invited to perform several Solutions Seminars at attendees’ companies to present its technologies to a wider audience. For those who could not attend the event, 3M is offering to perform the same Solutions Seminars as well as Plant Audits on site at manufacturers’ facilities.
