3M Library Systems Unveils ‘Detection System Select Series’ For Use with Tattle-Tape Security Strips

- New Electromagnetic Security Panels Offer Improved Functionality and Vastly Expanded Range of Design Choices -

3M Library Systems today introduced its 3M Detection System Select Series for use with 3M Tattle-Tape Security Strips, providing marked advances in both aesthetic and functional design. Customers will enjoy the industry’s largest choice of colors and finishes for electromagnetic detection panels, along with the ability to replace panels without changing systems.

The Select Series was unveiled here this evening at the start of the American Library Association’s mid-winter conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. (The 3M booth number is 1104.)

Aesthetically, the Select Series includes a broad range of colors, design patterns and finishes, comprising more than 30 design combinations. The panels, which are hand made, are available in various laminates, graphics using 3M Scotchprint Graphics material and 3form Architectural’s “ecoresin,” a co-polyester material composed of recycled content that is popular with sustainable design architects.

“The Detection System Select Series has the ability to complement any interior design, offering the broadest range of choices available anywhere,” said Rory Yanchek, business manager, 3M Library Systems. “It can transform the security area into one of the brightest, most friendly elements of the library.”

Most noteworthy among the functional benefits are the addition of an easy-to-read eye-level patron counter and an LED alarm light that supplements the audible alarm. A low-frequency signal minimizes interference with nearby electronic equipment, and the system can be customized for exits and entrances.

The Select Series, which meets ADA requirements, can be installed in single- or dual-corridor widths, with direct-mount, base plate and buried cable installation options. The system is completely safe for magnetic media, and is installable as close as 18 inches from metal. An optional voice alarm is available with a wireless RF transmitter and receiver, and recordable messages.
