The new compact 3M fiber dome closures FDC 08 and FDT 08 are hermetically sealed dome closures for aerial, buried and underground applications. These closures meet the needs of anyone using fiber optic closures in the long haul, metro, HFC and FTTP feeder and distribution plant.

The compact closures do not require special tools, which can reduce tooling costs and allows for ease of installation and re-entry into the closure. The 3M FDC 08 and FDT 08 closures feature a fixed-position o-ring sealing system along with a simple dome-latching mechanism. This combination makes possible simple, error-free closure sealing and re-entry.

3M fiber dome closures utilize an ECAM (external cable assembly module) built-in cable-entry port system. The ECAM design allows true plug-and play capability, which can reduce installation and labor costs because the cable preparation and installation are completed outside the closure body. This ECAM system allows the technician to add and remove cables from the closure without breaking the cable seals of existing cables.

The 3M fiber dome splice closure portfolio consists of the FDC 08 and the FDT 08. The FDC 08 is equipped with one oval port that accommodates up to two 1.06-inch (27mm) cables, two round ports for cables up to 0.72-inch (18mm) in diameter and one round port for cables up to 0.47-inch (12mm) in diameter. The FDT 08 is equipped with eight 0.47-inch (12mm) ports and one oval port that accommodates up to two cables with diameters up to 0.80-inch (20mm) diameter cables. The maximum splice capacity for the FDC 08 and FDT 08 is 96 single fusion and 288 mass fusion splices.
