3M Precision Optics Inc. announced today that its Vikuiti LCoS optical core will be a featured component in the microdisplay-based projection light engine in Syntax-Brillian Corp.'s (NASDAQ:BRLC) new 1080p high definition television (HDTV), which will be shown during the Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 5-7.
The new television from Syntax-Brillian boasts the highest performance LCoS light engine with on-screen native contrast ratio of up to 4000:1 and a typical ANSI contrast ratio greater than 250:1. Advanced 3M technology in the Vikuiti LCoS optical core permits a brightness level up to 600 cd/m(2). Excellent contrast, combined with high brightness, enables outstanding picture quality.
"The Vikuiti LCoS optical core allows a simplified, high performance LCoS solution," said Dr. Robert Melcher, chief technology officer, Syntax-Brillian Corp. "In addition, television picture sharpness is increased by coupling a new ultra-sharp, high performance lens with Syntax-Brillian's most advanced LCoS imager technology, which uses a smaller pixel structure."
The television is currently in production at the Syntax-Brillian manufacturing facility, where every step of the manufacturing process and quality control from display assembly to complete light engine is carefully controlled by Syntax-Brillian.
The light engine will be available to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) interested in LCoS HDTV production. For additional information, contact Rainer Kuhn with Syntax-Brillian at (800) 706-0154.
