The 3M SLiC fiber aerial terminal closure 530 with external drop termination is easy to install, easy to clean and has minimum parts. It is a new member of the full 3M family of innovative products for fiber optic OSP deployment. 3M is introducing this new product at the FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) Conference & Expo this week in Las Vegas.

This terminal closure is made up of two separate chambers: a distribution cable splice chamber to house the fiber splices and store buffer tube or ribbon fiber slack; and a drop termination chamber to house all drop terminations. This craft separation feature allows the installer to terminate and maintain the drop without entering the splice chamber. The 3M SLiC closure terminal 530 can handle four, six, eight and 12 external drop-cable terminations. It will accommodate all hardened fiber optic connectors (HFOC), such as FONS RC and Corning OptiTap.

This new terminal closure is an aerial, strand-mount, free-breathing fiber terminal for FTTP applications. It can be used for inline, taut sheath, and butt splicing configurations.

Built with the technology utilized by 3M for 20-plus years for closures in the copper environment, this new fiber aerial terminal closure is a proven entity.
