The 3M Specialty Materials Division today announced a new addition to its "Novec" line of fluorosurfactants. Novec Fluorosurfactant FC-4434 from 3M can simplify and speed up the processing of paints and coatings formulations by eliminating predilution, preweighing, premeasuring and preheating.
Novec fluorosurfactant FC-4434 is a water-soluble, low-odor, general purpose nonionic fluorinated surfactant that may be used as a flow and leveling agent in a variety of applications, including inks, paints and coatings, polymers, adhesives, waxes, polishes and caulks.
An offspring of Novec fluorosurfactant FC-4432, this new offering provides similar performance properties, but contains just 25 percent active polymer solids in a water-miscible diluent. According to Bob Messner, laboratory manager, Special Materials Division, "The dilute form of Novec fluorosurfactant FC-4434 not only allows easier mixing and handling, but also eliminates the need for special handling and high-solids processing equipment."
