Maker of Post-It Super Sticky Notes Constructs the World's Largest Pink Ribbon in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
TV personality Daisy Fuentes "sticks up" for the cause by traveling 150 feet above Times Square

In front of hundreds of onlookers, TV personality Daisy Fuentes was transported 150 feet above Times Square to show that she is "sticking up" for breast cancer research. Fuentes, whose mother is a breast cancer survivor, placed the final Post-it super sticky note on the World's Largest Pink Ribbon - standing approximately 70 feet tall on a billboard in Times Square and constructed out of 75,000 notes.

"Since my mother is a breast cancer survivor, I am honored to take part in the construction of the World's Largest Pink Ribbon, knowing that it will help raise money and awareness for breast cancer research," said Fuentes.

Starting in July, 3M's Office Supplies Division, the maker of Post-it super sticky notes, asked people to indicate that they are "sticking up" for breast cancer research by calling a toll-free number or logging on to www.post-it.com, and leaving their name and hometown. 3M set an initial goal of 75,000 names, each of which would be represented on the World's Largest Pink Ribbon by a pink Post-it super sticky note - designed to hold stronger and longer to vertical surfaces.

In just one month, the goal of 75,000 names was reached, as more than 1 million people signed up to show their support for breast cancer research. According to Nielsen//Net Ratings, the global standard for Internet audience measurement, www.post-it.com/research was one of the fastest-growing sites on the Internet during the last two weeks of August as a result of the "sticking up" for breast cancer research campaign.

Aside from Fuentes, other celebrities are represented on the World's Largest Pink Ribbon. Nicole Kidman, Ashley Judd, Jodie Foster, Vanna White, Edie Falco, Ray Romano, Tony Danza, David Hyde Pierce, Jill Hennessy and Valerie Harper are among the more than 1 million people who indicated that they are "sticking up" for breast cancer research.

"It's terrific to see so many of my colleagues in the entertainment industry represented on the World's Largest Pink Ribbon, showing their support for this important cause," said Fuentes.

The World's Largest Pink Ribbon will be on display throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In honor of this Breast Cancer Awareness Month program, Dr. Jack Truong, vice president, 3M Office Supplies Division, presented a $300,000 donation to the City of Hope Cancer Center at the City of Hope annual Spirit of Life Awards Oct. 5 in Chicago. This donation kicks off a long-term fund-raising initiative for City of Hope Cancer Center - a nationally renowned cancer research and treatment facility in southern California.

This donation includes proceeds from the sale of Post-it super sticky notes imprinted with a pink ribbon. Twenty cents from every specially marked single-pack sold and 50 cents from every specially marked three-pack sold will be donated to City of Hope Cancer Center for cancer research. These pink ribbon notes can be found in most retail outlets and office superstores nationwide.

"The support of 3M will allow our scientists to pursue groundbreaking research leading to new treatments, new methods of prevention and new insights into breast cancer," said Michael A. Friedman, M.D., president and chief executive officer, City of Hope. "We are grateful to 3M and all those who participated in building the World's Largest Pink Ribbon. Together, we are advancing science - and hope - for the more than 2 million women who suffer from breast cancer."
